Small Indulgences

Warm weather is finally here and it's time to get outside and refresh your body with some vitamin D. Are you tired of the rainy weather and the recession? We are. Remember the way you felt with a new hair cut, a new shirt, or a new set of earrings? Small indulgences do not break the bank and can put a spring in your step. The Greymalkin Gallery has plenty of small indulgences for you to enjoy.

You could brighten someone's day with a glorious handmade card by Nancy Spink of BadPoodles. The gallery just received several new card designs, Butterfly Card Mix bags, bird houses, and collages. With cards priced at $1.99 you can't go wrong.

Chrissy Butler, our favorite silversmith, has also invited butterflies into the gallery with her amazing new butterfly inspired necklaces. She has been working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) to create some unique and fanciful earrings. Do you love leaves? She has a darling leaf charm bracelet. Or, if you like to make your own jewelry, Chrissy has hand-crafted a toggle clasp and some adorable leaf charms.

The gallery has also just received a new shipment of beads and findings, including freshwater pearls and sterling silver charms to add to our growing list of jewelry-making supplies. A 16-inch cultured freshwater pearl strand starts at $2.99. Sterling silver earwires package of 5 pairs starts at $4.99. If we do not carry what you are looking for in the craft or art supply area, we can look into a special order for you. Just ask us and we will be happy to help.

Jo Brooks, our lampworker, has been listening to your requests and has made more frog beads. Frogs come in green, red, and blue but each one has its own unique personality. Hurry to get the best selection. In addition to the frogs, she also has glass turtles.

For those nice relaxing days with friends, Jo has created Glassware Stem Charms to help identify the drink glasses. Or top your bottles in a unique way with beaded bottle stoppers. If you prefer to relax with a book, beaded bookmarks are a perfect way to save your place. They also make great gifts.

And after a long day enjoying the sun, you can hang up your new plaque to announce that the Princess is Sleeping created by Erin Kandiyeli.  Erin has also brought in some great quilting related plaques for the quilter in your life.

The gallery's fused glass artist, Teresa Antosyn, has started her own gallery in Millwood, WA (near Spokane). We would like to congratulate her and wish her the best of luck! Teresa will continue to show her work at the Greymalkin as well.

Before the end of the Troy Elementary school year, Sadie and Jo volunteered with the fourth grade classes during their Artist-In-Residence week on printmaking. Jeanne Leffingwell came to TES to teach this fun artistic process to both the first and fourth graders. The gallery will be displaying the wonderful prints the children made from now until the 26th of June.

April Shows Should Bring May Flowers

Today brings another showery day and we are anitcipating the arrival of all the May flowers that will come. Surely, all of this natural watering should help the flowers grow to create a wonderful show of colors for the Palouse. The Greymalkin Gallery has grown in this past year, not due to the rain but beacause of your support. Thank you to all of you that have supported us in our first year! It has been a wonderful year and we both are looking forward to what the future has in store.

As all things have to come to an end, today is the last day for the "Spring Anniversary Art Show." When you are out and about swing by and see it if you haven't already. If you have seen it already, this is your last chance to grab that specific piece of art that you've been thinking about since you saw it.

Be sure to check out our new shipment of gem stone beads and Jo always has new lampwork beads. Her recently added beads include a purple frog on a log, large bee, large strawberry, and a panda bear.

We are open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10:00am – 5:30pm. Greymalkin Gallery is located at 777 S. Main Street at the corner of Hwy 8 & 99 in Troy, ID.

Happy May Day!
